What kind of first impression is your website giving to your viewers?

What kind of lasting impression are you leaving them with?

Your website can give the first impressions you’re wishing for as well as offer a clean, useful interface to make sure your viewers get to the content they came looking for. It’s this marriage of form and function that makes a website truly standout.

The tone of a painter’s site can be set with the very paper she paints on, and a dance instructor can keep us informed of her latest dvds and workshops.

As you look through this gallery, consider the form and function our clients were aiming for with their sites. Then consider your own and contact us so we can bring your thoughts to light.

A Few Clients’ Sites

FreakyTikiProductions.com

Before After

This flash game developer decided to rework their site to be more accessible and exciting for visitors. The games were given screenshots on the front page and were organized by genre in drop-down menus in the menu bar. Each flash game was given it’s own page which has the flash game integrated into it to continue to reinforce the site’s main layout.

These are just a few of the elements that gave the site a polished look while making it possible to get from the current page to any other page on the site with one click.

This site capitalized on an existing site design Danny had already done and was completed in 3 days.

“THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I am so excited! :)” ~Doug

BlueSugar.us

Before After

Blue Sugar is a costume designer’s site that was build from the ground up. The look and feel of the site was inspired by the “Blue Sugar” name itself using small blue crystals as the main background element.

The site mainly showcases the costume designer’s portfolio through photos. Since image galleries were the main feature of the site, the site design itself was purposely muted to glorify the portfolio images rather than the site itself.

This site was built from the ground up in 1 week and included the creation of business cards to match the site.

(Note, BlueSugar.us is finished but has not gone live yet as the designer wants to gather more beautiful photos of their work before launching the site to the public.)

“Danny, I love it. It’s perfect. OMG, I have a website! :) Thank you!” ~BlueSugar.us

CharsVacationVillas.com

Before After

Charlotte connects people to luxurious private vacation villas in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The highest priorities of the site were to get possible clients to photos of the villas as soon as possible and to capitalize on every Search Engine Optimization technique possible.

Rather than have fancy slideshows that often bottleneck the number of photos a viewer can see at a time (and take extra time to load), all of the photos were laid out on each villa’s page. Even the “next page” button was shunned for the gallery of photos. The results were a page that gave all the information and photos needed for a particular villa at a speed that matched how quickly the viewer wished to scroll the page.

Search Engine Optimization techniques were used to ensure search engines like Google would find the most amount of unique pages with unique content as possible.

The initial rebuild of this site was up and running in 2 weeks. After that, more villas are added whenever needed.

“Thank you Danny. Great job again. See [villa] owner’s comments below.” ~Charolette

“Your web site is fantastic!!!— you weren’t kidding. Great display of photos which I believe is critical. Congratulations!” ~Joe

Alyne.biz

Before After

Alyne is a bellydance instructor and performer. Her site had been up for 10 years and had slowly gained clutter. The site was redesigned to showcase her primary areas of focus which included, the bellydance community, her class schedules, and her training dvds.

The redesign included blending Alyne’s trademark photo into the site itself. This site also has a staggering amount of content which was reorganized in drop-down menus to allow viewers to find exactly what they were looking for in as few clicks as possible. In addition to that, Alyne’s classes and event’s google calendar was integrated into the site so she could easily update her calendar at any time.

This site was completed in 2 weeks.

“Wow Danny. I’m really impressed. It is a much more sophisticated look.” ~Alyne

“It really looks fabulous!” ~Alyne

BrushPaintingCircle.com

Before After

Brush Painting Circle is a Chinese painting instructor’s homepage. It’s primary function is to promote the instructor’s classes, showcase her work, and show greetings cards for sale by the artist. The original site did a decent job of getting the content across but suffered from a few design flaws like needing a large number of clicks to reach many pages, galleries that didn’t integrate with the site’s main design, and galleries that clipped thumbnails.

One of the main goals for the redesign included keeping the site as simple and transparent as possible to help make the artist’s work stand out. Flashy presentations and busy pages were avoided. Instead the site capitalized on two styles of paper the instructor uses in her classes. The white paper comes in rolls and is torn off before being used. This simple presentation of torn paper sets the tone for painting in this master’s chosen medium while making her photos appear more lush and vivid.

The logo was touched up to be more readable and balanced while a unified menu was added to the top of each page to allow viewers to find what they are looking for with as few clicks as possible. Finally the “print out and mail in” order form was replace with an order form that could be filled out on line and would be digitally sent to the site’s owner for review.

This site was completed in 2 weeks.

“I love it! I really like the torn paper. What a great idea! I also like the way the gallery prompts the images of my artwork. It is very cool! ~Amy
